Founded in 1857, the company imported part of their inventory from abroad, thus introducing several new cereal grains in Russia, and set up an experimental agricultural station for testing both foreign and indigenous varieties of seeds. Ernest was also an authoritative author of various books and articles, including this one on berry plants, which not only described, for each variety, the best qualities, location, soil, propagation, and climate, but also common pests and dangers. As it was in the present publication, his works and trade catalogs were famous for their beautiful woodcuts and engravings. Not in OCLC or in the trade (as of March 2016).
